PROJECT:
OSA
A Tennessee Sleep Society Education Initiative
PROJECT: OSA is a “grass roots” movement by the Tennessee Sleep Society (TSS) to
raise awareness about Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The TSS has adopted
this project to fulfill its mission to provide public education and to create a
united voice within the Tennessee sleep community to address this serious
chronic condition.
OSA is one of the most common sleep disorders. It is estimated that OSA
affects 12-18 million individuals in the United States. That makes the disorder
as common as asthma and diabetes – two conditions that have well-established
and well-funded public education programs.
PROJECT: OSA Objectives:
- Communicate
symptoms
- Communicate
risks
- Communicate
ease of diagnosing
- Communicate
treatment options
This education initiative
will target the general public and primary care practitioners through a variety
of creative communication pathways.
This project will seek
funding from the sleep community and private sponsors.
The Tennessee Sleep
Society (TSS) wants to encourage all sleep technologists, sleep physicians, and
sleep centers and durable medical equipment companies to become members of the
TSS. A portion of the membership fee will go to support PROJECT: OSA.
Supporters of PROJECT: OSA will receive special recognition in all targeted
communication pathways.
